Well, after several weeks of working on the boat and taking care of my "Honey Do" list, I was able to get out and do some fishing yesterday.
Headed out to 71 fow cause that's where everyone told me the fish are. Well they are there, but, so scattered that we had to hunt and pick at them.
We stayed out there (16 miles from the dock) for awhile, got a few nice eyes, and a monster steelie, that I dropped at the net! The hooks got into the net and the fish was gone! All I could do was laugh about it! I told Rich, well at least I got to see that one !
As we started to troll in closer toward home, all the time heading West and South to get back home, we kept hitting walleye and silver bullets.
Finally got back to the "HUMP" 53 fow to 39 fow where all the boats were perching, and we trolled thru an opening in the boats and got 2 more walleye and a steelie.
The other boats were amazed that I was getting walleye where they were perching!
Well after all that, we ended the day with 13 walleye and we kept 2 of the 6 steelies (bleeders) All in all a nice day to be on the Lake in the rain.
The HOT lures were Stinger standards, copper for the eye's and silver for the trout. Didn't seem to make any difference as to the patterns. Oh yeah, and the walleye were all spitting out large minnows or smelt as they were coming to the net.Gonna try using stick baits next time and see what happens.
We had to run all dipsey divers, one of my planner reels got smashed some how? so it was dipsey's and riggers all day. The "big" were at #3 back 195-200, and the next size down were on 1,2 and 0 settings from 125 to 180 back all took fish.
