Fishing still remains good despite the northeaster the past day and a half. The winds only blew in a little warms water with temps in the mid to upper 50’s top to bottom inside of 70 FOW. Once you get outside of about 70 FOW the down temp starts to drop. There are also a few pockets of cold water trapped inside which where holding fish, but were quite small.
The best action for us came in 70 to 80 FOW today; caught fish as shallow as 55 FOW and as deep as 95 FOW. There was still plenty of bait on the inside but the fish in the warm water where moody and bite sporadically, while just outside it was quite consistent. Kings made up the bulk of the catch, but we did also manage a steelhead, 2 coho, 2 lakers, and 2 browns.
First thing this morning the top rigs were a white hot chip with a Rapture Little Bride 65 down on a rigger, blue bubble pro chip with a Rapture Last Supper 131 back on a wire diver and a green glow pro chip with a Rapture Hypnotist 151 out on a super braid diver. Once the sun came up the super braid diver shut down and the wire continued to produce with the same green glow pro chip with a Rapture Hypnotist, green glow pro chip with a Rapture Wild Fern, and a chartreuse glow pro chip with a Rapture Wild Fern. The riggers kept going with a green glow hot chip with an Aqua Howie and Rapture Wild Fern throughout the morning. These were set at 50 and 60 down with 10’ and 20’ leads off the ball. Fished mostly flasher flies today; no bits on plugs and threw out a std. stinger Kevorkian and stingray Ludington Special at the end which took three fish. The Kevorkian was on a 10 color (only LC bit of the day) and the LS on a 2 color 50 down.
Best of luck!
