Prove It Charters

Just got back from an evening trip, best thing about the northeaster was we had the lake to ourselves and it does not get any better than that!
Now for the bad news, fishing has gotten tough, really tough and the waves are getting big, really BIG. Started off with 3 to 5s, watched them build to 5-7s and decided to pull when a legitamate 10 footer came barreling our way. It is always a weird feeling looking up 20 feet to the top of a wave. Anyway we fished from 545ish pm to 830ish pm, ending up only going 5 for 6, 1 rainbow and 4 kings. No real pattern on baits, flasher/fly took one, pearl plug took biggest king on a seven color (15 lb range) and couple on spoons off riggers near the bottom.

I was hoping there was still a little time before the north winds had completely changed the water, but I was wrong. Water is 66 degrees from top to bottom in 50 foot of water. We worked in the small hills north of wind point for about an hour without a bump and with the bathwater from surface to bottom I decided I had to point her east. We did not get our first bite until we hit the 65 foot trough and took a couple out of there, actually doubled up on the backside of the trough (may have been some cold water in the trough?) We kept on going and hit a couple more in the 75 foot trough, never did make it to the third hill-too rough...not a nibble on top of the hills. We finally found some water under 60 degrees, 59.2 down 70 in 75 feet of water

The winds seemed even heavier when I was leaving tonight than when we were on the water so I would expect the temp break is out at or beyond the third hill. I would not recommend going out in the morning as she was building faster than the marine forecast had predicted, hopefully that means she will calm down faster than they predicted as well...we will have to wait and see
