Does anyone here use the braided "super lines" while trolling?

I use 30# test with a 6# diameter, Power Pro, in green.

My question is how does one properly figure the depth of the lure when using the "Trolloing Bible"
I know that book was written with the formula of the Lure ad 10# mono line.

If any of you has an easy to use formula, Please share it with us.

I use 30# fireline and I dont think 30# fire runs same as 10# mono its off alot if you ask me, the stretch on mono is up to 20-30% of line out. How could they possibly dive the same. I have been in 20 fow and had alot more line out then what they claimed I would hit bottom with, some many variables to give you a good answer(speed, rod angle, with waves, into them)

Hi all,
tough question, lots of variables when fishing Lake Erie. Currents play a big roll here, a fishhawk or something to give your speed is a big help when fishing deep water. If you run dipsys, their chart will get you close, it has mono and braided lengths in feet. I usually will run 3 dipsys on each side set at 3-2-1 and vary the length of line out, so both sides are running different depths. Then when you start getting hits adjust them all. Your dive curves should have the length of line, and type of line to set out to reach a certain depth. Or you can do a test for yourself and troll along a beach or sandy bottom and run out a few feet at a time until you start hitting the bottom, then write it down... Those Stinger Dive Bombs look pretty cool, I look forward to running them on my planer boards..

hope this helps,

Buy the "Big Water Trolling Bible". It has information on dipsys, snap weights, jet divers and others. I bought it this offseason and can't wait to put it to the test. The divers are shown for mono, super braid and wire depths.
